Speed campaign

1 in 5 deaths on Scotland’s roads are caused by speeding. The Scottish Government, including the Scottish Safety Camera Programme, is tackling the serious issue of speeding with a new road safety campaign, asking drivers to slow down to help reduce collisions and casualties.

Driver fatigue campaign

Fatigue causes hundreds of accidents each year and are roughly 50% more likely to result in death or serious injury.

20mph campaign

If you hit someone at 30mph, they’re seven times more likely to die than at 20mph. To keep everyone safe in cities, towns and villages across Scotland, new reduced 20mph speed limits will be put in place on all appropriate roads.

Older drivers campaign

As you get older, changes in your vision and other health issues can affect your driving. There are lots things you can do to continue driving safely, like getting a free  NHS eye examination. Learn more about what you can do to keep driving safely.

Pavement parking campaign

Pavement Parking is unsafe, unfair and illegal. It can force people onto the road and increases the risk of accidents.

Drug driving campaign

Police in Scotland now carry drug testing kits and are able to carry out immediate roadside testing for any driver they suspect of drug driving. Know the rules, keep our roads safe.

Seatbelts campaign

Not wearing a seatbelt can have big consequences. Your friends’ and family’s lives could all be affected. So, don’t ever skip it – even for short journeys.

As we’ve all seen recently, life can change pretty fast. But, when it comes to drug-driving; the rules of not being arrested or having a devastating crash and hurting lots of people… have not changed one bit. So, don’t drive under the influence of drugs.

It stops your body working properly. It can get you locked up. It’s not worth it.

925 young male drivers were involved in collisions in the last 12 months, with 148 killed or seriously injured. A huge number of these collisions were caused by speeding.
